There are two approaches to this puzzle, neither of which are in any way easy to find. It is very difficult to unravel due to the bonds that hold this structure together. Another elegant cast puzzle from Hanayama

Another elegant Hanayama puzzle. The Nutcase only has two aims, disassemble the puzzle by removing the small nut, then change the wording on the bolt from 'nut case' to 'case nut'. Sounds simple? Think again.

Like Igor I came up with the solution to the puzzle almost instantly and i am not not a puzzle Guru in the slightest. After getting the puzzle open I could see and understand how the puzzle worked very clearly. Like Jane said after you understand it there is not much too this puzzle in comparison to other puzzles. Although i still play with this puzzle and leave it in my pocket.
I am currently working on the "Quartet" which has me completely stumped. -

Hmm, well it took me less than ten minutes to solve this '5' puzzle, and I am definitely not a puzzle champion. The general idea was quite obvious from the start.
Having examined the pieces after taking it apart, and then also looked at the solution, I see that there is indeed a more clever trick to it than I thought, and a more satisfyingly elegant way of solving it. However, my approach - simply shaking/vibrating and feeling the give - did the trick! I then put it together and again solved it in literally less than 30 seconds, again just by fiddling with it.
It does look and feel nice and could be good for confounding guests, but I think the design lends itself too easily to being unpicked almost by accident. -

This is a very cleverly devised puzzle with a ingenious trick to it. If you're a real fan of puzzles like me you have to be careful not to read up about it on Google or you may stumble on a "spoiler" as I did. Once you know the secret, it doesn't have much lasting appeal other than the fun of trying it on friends.
Like all other Hanayama puzzles it's very well made. It's a weighty item, comprised of two interlocking cast metal pieces with a copper appearance and a rather intriguing rattle!
